A one-time code (OTP) that never arrives is one of the most frustrating things standing between you and getting something done. Before you assume something's broken, work through this checklist — it resolves the large majority of cases.
Step 1: Double-Check the Number You Entered
The single most common cause is a typo in the phone number itself:
- Confirm you entered your number in the correct format — Pakistani mobile numbers on iSwap.pk are entered as 3XX XXX XXXX, with the +92 prefix applied automatically.
- Make sure there's no extra leading zero — a number starting 03XX... should be entered as 3XX... (without the 0), since the +92 prefix already accounts for it.
- If you're not sure it was entered correctly, go back and re-enter it carefully rather than requesting another code to the same possibly-wrong number.
Step 2: Give It a Minute
SMS delivery isn't always instant. Wait a full 60–90 seconds before assuming it's failed — codes can occasionally take longer to arrive depending on network conditions.
Step 3: Check Your Signal and SMS Settings
- Confirm your phone has active mobile signal (not just Wi-Fi) — OTPs are delivered by SMS, not data.
- If you have an SMS blocking or spam filter app installed, check whether it's silently filtering messages from unknown senders.
- Restarting your phone can occasionally clear a stuck SMS queue.
Step 4: Use Resend, Not a Fresh Attempt
If the code still hasn't arrived after a minute or two, use the Resend OTP option on the same screen rather than closing the form and starting over — this avoids requesting codes to a mismatched or partially-entered number by accident. Note that resends are timed, so you may need to wait for a short cooldown before the option becomes available again.
Step 5: Try Again Later If You've Requested Several
If you've requested multiple codes in a short window, wait a few minutes before trying again — sending too many requests too quickly can occasionally delay delivery further as a side effect of anti-spam protections.
Step 6: Switch Methods If You Have One Available
If phone verification for the action you're trying to complete isn't going through, check whether an alternative is available — for account creation specifically, signing up with Google or your email address skips SMS-based verification entirely.
